    COBRA

The Constant Bit Rate ATM Adaptation Layer 1 (COBRA) device is a CMOS VLSI device that provides the functions needed for circuit emulation over ATM. Both Structured (e.g. nx64 Kbits/s) and Unstructured services(e.g. 1544 Kbits/s and 2408 Kbit/s) are supported. Four independent channels are supported in a single device. The COBRAsupports three clock modes: internal clock recovery based on thesynchronous residual time stamp (SRTS), clock recovery based on the FIFO fill level, and an external clock mode. The COBRA device interfacesdirectly to a PCM line interface device and to an UTOPIA compliantdevice.Features are

    • AAL1 segmentation and reassembly
    • Four independent channels
    • Structured and Unstructured service
    • Internal Clock recovery with SRTS and Adaptive mechanism
    • External Clock mode
    • Partially filled cell
    • AAL1 bypass mode
    • Selectable AMI/B8ZS/HDB3 line coding
    • AIS/Test signal generation
    • Coding violation monitor
    • Loss of signal and output activity monitor
    • Line loopback
    • Serial port for control of line interface devices
    • Motorola/Intel compatible microprocessor interface
    • ATM Forum Compliant
