Johann Andreas Schubert
Johann Andreas Schubert was born 18 March 1808 in Wernesgrün/Vogtland and died 6 October1870 in Dresden.
He studied architecture and became a teacher (in 1828) and a Professor (in 1932) of the Institute of Technical Education (Technische Bildungsanstalt) in Dresden. His name is associated with many outstanding technical achievements. Amongst those is the first German Steam Locomotive "Saxonia", the first paddle steamer on the river Elbe - called "Königin Maria" and, the biggest brick stone bridge of the world - the "Göltzschtalbrücke"
