    PEF22817 - VDSL5100i - VDSL Modem-on-a-Chip

Infineon PEF22817 - VDSL5100i Infineon's VDSL 5100i is a single-chip VDSL modem solution. It thus enables the design of highly integrated Ethernet or ATM over VDSL systems.
The VDSL5100i provides a range of data rates, including asymmetric data-rates of 70/40 Mbps and symmetric data-rates of 50/50 Mbps over single-pair copper wires.
    Features
    • ATM or Ethernet packet transmission over standard VDSL
    • Highly integrated QAM VDSL standard complient modem-on-a-chip
    • Transmission of packets over VDSL using standard PTM-TC according to ITU-T G993.1
    • ETSI/ANSI VDSL standard compliant
    • Full backward compatibility with Infineon's 4-band VDSL and 10BaseS product family
    • Filterless AFE
    • Small footprint - 1 cm2
    • Low power consumption
    • T1E1.4, ETSI, and ITU-T compliant high speed VDSL PHY applications
    • Ethernet transfer over AAL5 and RFC 2684 protocols
    • Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM)
    • 2, 3, or 4-band operation
    • Dual latency support with built-in interleaver memory
    • Power Back Off
    • Embedded crystal oscillator (DCXO) for timing recovery
    • Spectral allocation allows noisefree operation with xDSL, ISDN, TCM-ISDN and digital PBX
    • Versatile and completely flexible band allocations
    • Backward compatibility with Infineon's legacy chip sets
    • Performance
      • Asymmetric DS/US data rates of 70/40 Mbit/s and symmetric data rates up to 50 Mbit/s
      • Asymmetric Band 0 DS/US data rates of 4/0.6 Mbit/s up to 4 km (13,200 ft.)
    • Interfaces
      • MII/SMII/SS-SMII/RMII compliant with the 802.3 Ethernet specification
      • ATM UTOPIA Level 1 and Level 2, 8-bit, 33 MHz
      • 32-channel Pulse Code Modulation (PCM), maximum 2 Mbit/s over the fast channel
      • MII serial management interface to access all internal registers
      • External parallel host port
      • Serial UART interface to a standard serial terminal
      • EEPROM interface via I2C
      • IEEE 1149.1 JTAG test port
    • Power Consumption
      • Total power consumption is less than 1.4 W
